        Literally, how much work has the contractor actually performed?  Have they done five houses, ten houses, a thousand feet, ten thousand?  Progressive Construction & Remodel has done lots of projects all over the State of Oregon and some projects outside this state as well!  We estimate having more than a Million Feet of siding on the walls in this State alone, hundreds of windows and doors, houses, remodels, roofs, and many, many other projects in both new construction & remodel!  We have projects in place all over the state of Oregon.  Each year we do many, many, different types of projects for contractors, homeowners, government agencies, and the like!  We’ve done portions of work on noticable buildings near you!

Who are the actual people who will work on your project and what is the company employee turnover rate?

        Just because companies have done a good job in the past doesn’t mean you will get the same crew or employees to work on your project!  Some contractors hire new people all the time!  Other contractors may show you nice pictures of homes done in the past, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the same crew will be the one working on your home!  When you choose Progressive Construction & Remodel, any crew leader that will work on your project has had a minimum of years experience in the construction industry.  Our foremen have been with our company for years, and had to have significant experience before they even walked through our front door.  Once they agree to work for us, they go through an extensive training program led by competent, trained professionals with years of experience in the construction industry.

What type of product guarantees does the prospective contractor offer?

        Always check the fine print on the “great warranties” companies promise!  Some warranties are pro-rated.  Some don’t cover obvious problems!    Some basically don’t cover anything!  Progressive Construction & Remodel sells products we can guarantee.  Almost all the items we offer to customers have a Guarantee that covers both the product and labor costs due to manufacturing defects!

What type of additional labor guarantees does the prospective contractor offer?

        Just because you get a product guarantee doesn’t mean you are covered against incorrect installation!  If the contractor installs your products wrong, the manufacturer won’t cover it!  Progressive Construction & Remodel gives you a written Express Labor Guarantee on everything we install that could be as much as twice the length as most other companies! 

How long has the prospective contractor been licensed, bonded, and insured in the State of Oregon?

Has the prospective contractor done their homework on MOLD and potential problems that could hurt you as an owner?

        One of the biggest concerns homeowners or project owners face today is the possibility of mold developing in or on their walls.  Your contractor needs to thoroughly understand all the issues surrounding these problems to help you protect your home, family, tenants, and people who may be just visiting in the building.  Progressive Construction & Remodel understands the gravity of these issues and we’ve done our homework to minimize your exposure to this and other exterior disasters you could face.  Through our research and years of experience, we have developed a special system of products and application procedures specifically designed to meet these and other challenging issues we face in the Pacific Northwest.

How is the prospective contractor’s credit history?

If the contractor’s credit history isn’t exceptional, you could be placing your own financial stability in danger since suppliers can place a lien on your property if they do not receive payment for supplies.  Progressive Construction & Remodel is happy to provide you with several financial references to give you peace of mind knowing your home won’t be used to pay the bill!  We even offer you a copy of our credit report absolutely free if you choose to use our company!

Did the prospective contractor give you a Consumer Notification form upon initial contact with you?

        The Oregon Construction Contractor’s Board and the State of Oregon requires every contractor licensed with the CCB to give you a form entitled “Consumer Notification” the very first time the prospective contractor comes into any significant contact with you or at the point a written quote is given.  This means if a salesperson comes into your home or office to speak with you and doesn’t give you this form, he or she is breaking the law and could be subject to a $1,000.00 fine or other possible sanctions from the State of Oregon.  This form gives you a toll free number to the CCB to check on the status of every contractor’s license.  Please call and check on Progressive Construction & Remodel's status (License # 95016).

Is the prospective contractor a member of any organizations or groups that would aid in your knowledge as a consumer?

        Progressive Construction & Remodel has been a member in good standing with the National Homebuilders Association of America, the Lane County Homebuilders Association, and the National Federation of Independent businesses.  We are also a member of the Cottage Grove Chamber of Commerce as well and invite you to call for references!  On a happy note, in 2007 we were nominated as Business of the Year in our area.  Thanks!
